Corrupt cops have led Mexican authorities to mass graves in the country’s western state of Michoacan where the Knights Templar runs drugs and extorts businesses with little pushback from law enforcement or government officials as reported by Adriana Gomez Licon for The Associated Press: “despite efforts to root out corruption from police departments, many officers continue to work for drug traffickers.”
Earlier this month a Michoacan mayor who spoke out against the drug cartels was viciously murdered as reported by the Los Angeles Times: “the nation is wondering whether Michoacan, a key agricultural state just a few hours west of Mexico City, has been all but overrun by drug cartels.”
